A legal concept that separates a business entity from that of the principals that act on behalf of it. The corporate veil protects principals from being personally liable for the company’s debts and obligations. A court can determine that a company’s business was not conducted in accordance with the provisions of law and can hold the principals personally liable for the company’s debts and obligations.
