FEIN / Tax ID Services

If you are forming a new company, or have recently formed one, you may need an Employer Identification Number, commonly referred to as an EIN, FEIN, or Federal Tax ID Number.

An EIN is a unique nine-digit number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service to identify a business or other entity for federal tax purposes. An EIN is commonly needed to open a business bank account, hire employees, file tax returns, apply for certain licenses, complete vendor or customer onboarding forms, and handle other business, tax, and banking matters.

The IRS generally recommends forming the legal entity with the state before applying for an EIN. If the entity is not properly formed before the EIN application is submitted, the application may be delayed or may need to be corrected.

Accumera can assist with the EIN application process by preparing the required IRS Form SS-4, reviewing the information provided, and submitting the application on your behalf where available. Once the EIN is issued, we will provide the EIN confirmation and a copy of the prepared SS-4 application for your records.

In many cases, an EIN can be obtained online through the IRS. However, online EIN applications are not always available or may not be accepted in certain situations. This may occur because of IRS system limitations, responsible party information, name matching issues, prior EIN records, foreign ownership, missing taxpayer identification information, or other IRS validation requirements.

If the EIN cannot be obtained online, Accumera has a process in place to submit the Form SS-4 to the IRS by fax and, where appropriate, follow up with the IRS by telephone to help obtain the EIN as efficiently as possible. Fax-submitted EIN applications are subject to IRS processing times and requirements, but Accumera will monitor the status and take reasonable follow-up steps to help move the application forward.

To apply for an EIN, the IRS requires information about the entity, including the legal name, entity type, mailing address, responsible party, reason for applying, and other tax-related details. A responsible party’s Social Security Number, Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, or other required taxpayer identification information may be needed. The IRS also requires signed authorization when a third-party designee applies on behalf of the entity.

Accumera’s FEIN / Tax ID services are designed to help make the application process easier, reduce common errors, and provide you with organized records for your new business.
