Until recently, the Pennsylvania Corporation Bureau prohibited businesses from registering names that included “words that constitute blasphemy, profane cursing or swearing, or that profane the Lord’s name” 15 Pa.C.S. § 1303(c) (2) (ii). In a June 2010 court ruling, U.S. District Judge Michael M. Baylson declared that this law violated the free speech clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
