The length of time that a company will be recognized as a legal entity filed with the state. In most states, when organizing a company, you can stipulate the duration that it will exist. Most often companies will be organized with “perpetual duration” meaning that the duration will last forever or until the company is formally dissolved or the state dissolves the company.
